Welcome! This is Books in the Closet, a private book forum. We wanted a place to post the books we are reading to share with others. This isn't just a "favorite books" list. It is more of a book review blog; a place to find books your friends have already read and reviewed before you head off to the library. Feel free to post your current read and invite your friends to join in. When posting about your book, please include a picture*, a brief synopsis, your stars, a rating, and your name.
Stars
*****-Five stars-one of the best books you've ever read. You will buy it and reread it. You will drive people insane because you can't stop talking about it.
**** -Four stars-a great book. You really enjoyed it, but it doesn't make your top 5. You will recommend it in conversation with others.
*** -Three stars-Blah. A fine book. You didn't hate it, but you didn't love it. You will only talk about it if someone else brings it up. You won't hold it hostage from the library.
** -Two stars-a not-so-good book. You found it boring or offensive. You will lecture the person who recommended it to you.
* -One star-an awful book, for whatever reason. You will throw the book away, whether it belongs to you or the library. No one should have to read this.
Ratings
G-This book is for everyone! When your kids grow up, you could read them this book without shame! Example: Dr. Seuss Ages Baby-Adult
PG-Your kids could read these without shame, but the themes are more mature. Example: Ella Enchanted, by Gail Carson Levine Ages 8-Adult
PG-13-These are books that you might find in the young adult section. There may be some swear words, questionable content meant for an older teen, or mature themes that you don't want your teen to know/think/talk/dream about yet. Example: Speak, by Laurie Halse Anderson Ages 17-Adult
R-These are read-at-your-own-risk books. They may have many swear words, descriptive scenes, or R-rated events or storylines. Example: Something Borrowed Ages 21-Adult
These ratings are meant to help others make informed decisions in regards to book choice. When stating your rating, please give reasoning as to why you chose that rating.
We're excited to see your recommendations and to be able to enjoy your latest reads.
*To post a picture, find a picture of your book on the internet. Right click on the picture and click Save Picture As. Then upload the photo as you normally would on Blogger.
