Speak

Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson

My main reason for bringing this book to the forum is for TWILIGHT fans. The star, Kristen Stewart as Bella, of the upcoming movie plays in the movie Speak. I was looking at Kristen Stewarts previous work and noticed that she did a movie Speak. I had read the book and thought I should rent the movie to see if I thought her skills were up to par. I thought she did great. If anyone else wanted to take a look, I thought I should let you know about the book and the movie.
This is a teen read and apparently a frequently required high school book. It is all about peer pressure and the cruelty of high school kids.
Speak is a fast-paced read that involves the reader emotionally from the very start. I found myself angry with both the good and bad characters. It is easy to identify with most of what happens in this novel, whether through personal experience or the experience of others.
I was slightly frustrated with the weakness of the main character but what do I know of her situation.
Rating - PG-13

Stars - ***
This is a widely loved book and I am in the minority, but I was frustrated with the book.
